January - Exciting Award Win News!

January - Green City Wars

A new Adrian Tchaikovsky novel

UK Cover Reveal

Portia House was full of rejoicing today as Adrian won two awards in the 2025 Goonhammer Book Awards!

"Recently the Warhammer site, Goonhammer, held a poll for favourite Warhammer reads of 2025, and I’m delighted to find that my novel, Starseer’s Ruin, came out well! Not only did it come out top in the Age of Sigmar category (Warhammer’s main fantasy setting) but by a very narrow margin I also came away with their Best Writer category. I’ve been writing for Black Library for a while – in fact the only outside franchise I’ve written for. Getting this nod from BL readers definitely makes me feel that I’ve arrived as part of a longstanding tradition full of exceptional authors. Thank you!”

In a city of sunshine and secrets, the shadows belong to the animals. Private Investigator, Scotch, a genetically engineered racoon races to expose a deadly conspiracy – before it tears his whole world apart!

Green City Wars is a solarpunk noir science fiction novel filled with crime and mystery. It's a dynamic action-filled story guaranteed to have you guessing right until the end.

May - NornCon 2026

The Belfast scify, fantasy, and horror convention.

A lovely weekend was had at NornCon 2026, a new scify, fantasy, and horror convention held in beautiful Northern Ireland at the Hilton Hotel in Belfast on Saturday 9 May, 2026.

Guests of honour, Adrian and Anna Smith Spark, headed a stellar cast of panellists and attendees for a day of readings, talks, games, and workshops. A local artists and dealers catered to everyone's fantasy, scify and horror needs.

Adrian did a reading from Children of Strife, was interviewed by author, Ian McDonald, and took part in two panels: “Don’t cross the streams” with Peadar Ó Guilin, Sam Poots, and Ruth Frances Long, and “Role of the Other” with Jack Fennell, Ian McDonald, RB Kelly and Jenny Hannaford.

On Sunday, the guests of honour were taken on a fascinating tour of the Navan Fort near Armagh. The tour guide was non other than distinguished archeologist and linguist, Professor J. P. Mallory. He gave the most interesting and entertaining talk in the beautiful sunny weather. In the evening we were treated to a final meal with convention organisers and local club members.

Many, many thanks go to Tommy Ferguson and the Convention Team for all the organisation, to Professor Mallory for his superb talk, and to Mandy and Tom for driving us around. We'll be back soon!
